Whatever is proper to holy Scripture, whatever can be expressed in human language and understood by the human mind, is contained in the book of Isaiah. Of these mysteries the author himself testifies when he writes: You will be given a vision of all things, like words in a sealed scroll.
Question: "How do we know when the books of the Bible were written?" Answer: We have a few basic ways of knowing when the individual books of the Bible were written: a combination of internal and external evidence and, particularly in the Old Testament, traditional accounts.
Internal evidence might consist of the style of writing and mentions of people or places who can be more. This book challenges conventional interpretations of Scripture and provokes the reader to consider a more supernatural view of the world than he likely holds.
Hence the subtitle of the book, Recovering the Supernatural Worldview of the Bible. Knowing Scripture. Knowing Scripture shows us that it is the privilege and duty of every believer to diligently study God’s Word.
It reminds us that along with this privilege comes the responsibility to interpret the Bible correctly. R.C. Sproul teaches that interpreting Scripture, like all sciences, is governed by rules. He lays out the basic guidelines for correctly understanding, interpreting, and applying Scripture.

Higher criticism includes the study of the date and authorship of Bible books. Many higher critics hold that some or all of the books of the Bible were not written by the men that the books claim as authors, that the books were not written when they claim to be written, and that they were often not unified books but composed of several documents pieced together.
Simply knowing the Scriptures does not produce salvation. One may know the Bible; he or she may be able to quote many verses word for word, but that in itself does not save.
The Bible reveals Christ, and when one believes in Him, he is saved. That is what happened in Timothy’s case, and thank God, in the experience of millions more.
As you may well know if you spend much time around these parts, I read a lot. A whole lot. In my reading I have noticed a disturbing trend in the way authors use the Bible to prooftext their books. This concern has led me to write this article in which I will suggest some guidelines for the proper use of Scripture in Christian books.
